GIFTS FOR EVERYONE! We offer a variety of pre-packaged gifts at a wide price range, at all 3 locations and online. Many of our gifts are packaged in sets or perfect pairs (an olive oil with a complementary balsamic), have recipes included, and come beautifully wrapped, beribboned, and ready to go. Some products are packaged in galvanized “gift tubs” (The Tubby Olive version of “gift baskets”) that can be used as a planter/container in your home.
Gifts range from our Vinaigrette Favors (two small bottles in a bag with ribbon, starting at $10.95) which are perfect as stocking stuffers and teacher gifts, to our abundant Gourmet Tub, featuring the best of several of our gourmet food items (wrapped in a large tub for $100), a perfect gift for someone special. This year we added two new gifts to our line-up, the Salad Tub (two 200ml bottles of oil and vinegar, a whisk and tiny jar of Dijon mustard, for $29.95) and A Taste of Italy (four small bottles with Italian themed oils and vinegars, recipes and a ceramic cazuela-dipping dish, for $25.95).
Of course, you also have the option of creating your own customized gift by selecting any bottle of olive oil and/or balsamic and one of our holiday gift bags. NEWTOWN’S MIDNIGHT MADNESS, NEWTOWN HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR, & HOLIDAY PARADE: Enjoy the December festivities for the whole family on DECEMBER 6th, 7th, and 8th. On FRIDAY evening, DECEMBER 6th, a tree lighting ceremony will take place at the Fire House at 6:30PM, and afterward children can see Santa. Stay in town for MIDNIGHT MADNESS when many Newtown shops stay open until 12AM. We’ll have dessert, free samples and different savings every hour starting at 8PM. On Saturday DECEMBER 7th, the Annual Holiday Open House Tour will be held from 10AM to 4PM. While you are touring historic homes, stop in at The Tubby Olive, show us your ticket, and save 10% on your entire purchase! On Sunday DECEMBER 8th, the Santa Parade will take place in Newtown from 11:30AM-4PM. This is an event that will be fun for the whole family. CHEESE! CHEESE! CHEESE! It’s what you’ve been asking about and it’s finally here! A little bit of Reading Terminal Market comes to NEWTOWN. INTRODUCING STONY BROOK BUTTERNUT SQUASH & PUMPKIN SEED OILS
Pumpkin Seed Oils
The Tubby Olive is pleased to introduce two delicious, rich, artisanal oils from Stony Brook WholeHeartedFoods located in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Butternut Squash Seed Oil and Pumpkin Seed Oil are crafted by using locally grown squash seeds, roasting them in small batches, and pressing them into oil using a gentle expeller-press and filtration method that maintains freshness, subtle flavor and depth of color. Each oil varies in color and flavor profile depending on the variety of squash, with colors ranging from dark emerald green (pumpkin) to a rich golden hue (butternut). These plant-based oils are rich in omega 3, 6, and 9 fatty acids and vitamins A and E.
The Pumpkin Seed Oil is savory, with flavors of sesame, roasted mushrooms, and pistachio throughout. Use it for drizzling over vegetables, salads, soups. The Butternut Squash Seed Oil has a warm, buttery, nutty taste reminiscent of cashew or peanut. Its uses are for sautéing, grilling, or roasting vegetables and meats, or as a flavoring oil on prepared dishes. If you have not sampled our Sesame Oil, you will be wowed by its rich toasted flavor and aroma, and its ability to transform your recipes from “everyday” to “gourmet.” Sesame oil is nutrient rich and contains antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. It has a long shelf life and a high smoke point, so it is ideal for stir frying, sautéing, roasting and finishing.

3 lbs butternut squash
2 1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
1/2 cup brandy
1/2 cup coarsely chopped carrots
1/4-1/2 tsp. red pepper flakes
1 quart vegetable stock
1/8-1/4 cup The Tubby Olive Maple Balsamic to taste
1-2 tsp. fresh thyme
1/4 cup orange juice
2 TBSP minced fresh ginger
1/2-2 cups water
1 1/2 TBSP butter
The Tubby Olive Roasted French Walnut Oil
1 1/2 TBSP olive oil
ground black pepper to taste
2 tsp. salt
Directions: Cut squash length-wise, scoop out seeds, brush with Roasted French Walnut Oil and roast in a 425 degree oven for 45-60 minutes, or until caramelized and very soft. While squash is roasting, saute chopped veggies, garlic, thyme, salt & pepper in butter and olive oil until veggies are soft, about 10 minutes. Add brandy, stock, and 1/2 C water, bring to a boil. Reduce heat, spoon squash into pot and simmer for 15 minutes. Let cool; puree with immersion blender or in batches in a blender. Add OJ, and Maple Balsamic and additional water if needed to taste. Finish with Walnut Oil.
